Get Married at SF City Hall:
Simple Guide for Your Perfect Ceremony

Getting married at San Francisco City Hall is simpler than you might think—and it’s also pretty spectacular! Here's your quick guide to making the most of your City Hall wedding without all the stress.
1.Get Your Marriage License:
Before the vows, visit the San Francisco County Clerk’s office to apply for your marriage license. No need to be a local, but both parties must be present.

Location: The County Clerk’s office is located at 1 Dr. Carlton B. Goodlett Place, Room 168. It’s open weekdays, with hours typically from 8:00 AM to 3:30 PM (check ahead for any updates).
Who Can Apply: Both parties must be present to apply for the license. It’s not necessary for you to be a California resident to marry in San Francisco.
Required Documents: You’ll need a valid photo ID (driver’s license, passport, etc.), and there’s no need for a blood test. The marriage license is valid immediately and for the next 90 days, so you can choose your wedding day within that timeframe.

2.Book Your Ceremony:
City Hall offers several time slots, so pick one that fits your vibe - early for some peace and quiet, or middle of the day for a lively crowd. Either way, it’s your day!
Early Morning: If you’re looking for peace and tranquility, booking an early slot (typically between 9:00-10:00 AM) might be ideal. The building is quieter, giving you more privacy and fewer distractions for photos.
Midday: If you prefer a bit of buzz, aim for midday or early afternoon when the crowds are livelier. There are more couples getting married, which adds a bit of excitement and ambiance.
Late Afternoon: If you want the last time slots (around 3:00 PM-3:30 PM), it’s quieter again, and you’ll have more flexibility for photos around the building as you finish up. Plus, the sunlight tends to be softer, making for gorgeous shots.
3.Choose Your Package:
Whether you're planning a simple elopement with just the two of you or want a full production with a photographer and videographer capturing every moment, there are flexible packages and prices available to suit all preferences and budgets.

You’ll want the photos to reflect how special your day is—and trust us, having professional photos and videos will make your memories even more unforgettable!

For more details check with City Hall or contact your photographer for guidance on what will work best for your style and needs. Your choice of package helps ensure that every moment is beautifully captured.
